The Hope House of Cocke County is excited to participate in the 35th Annual Newport Harvest Street Festival on Saturday, October 2, and Sunday, October 3. We are looking forward to being back in a setting that allows us to reach out and meet members of our community. This is always a great event for the community and for the groups and businesses involved. We are so happy to be present for it! We met so many great people at the last street festival, and we are excited to do it again this year.
We began preparing for this event in April, when board members Heather and Savannah began growing succulents for our theme this year: Help Someone’s Life Succ-Less. Cheeky, right? We decided, that after the year and a half we have all had, we would do anything to make life “succ” less.
We will be selling mini-planters (that you can paint, if you’d like!) with the succulent of your choice for $1, $3, or $5 as a fundraiser to support Hope House of Cocke County’s goal of opening a homeless shelter in our community. We have a table built by our board member, John Heist, that will provide a workspace for guests to paint their pots. We also have a kid's activity wagon for the little ones to take part as well.
We have a local artist who has donated beautiful signage for the event. Heather and Savannah (President and Treasurer respectively) have been growing the plants, and Heather has donated the planters for the event. We are so happy to welcome everyone to visit our booth and talk about our goals of helping our community’s homeless by providing them shelter.
We hope you will come out to see all the wonderful food vendors, craftspeople, and businesses our county has to offer. We hope you’ll stop by and see us too. Have a chat, paint your mini-planter, put a plant in it, and make someone’s life “succ” less!
